Welcome to Assisted Study

Assisted Study provides small group study support to students during school hours under the daily direction of Mr. Paul Lacroix, Assisted Study Coordinator and CBNA Webmaster.

The assisted study approach identifies students with specific needs and creates an environment that supports them by eliminating obstacles to their achievement.

Some may be performing below their full potential, due to disorganization, diminished effort or a lack of physical resources. Others may need help with the dislocation difficulties that can arise following transfer from another school or which may accompany personally traumatic events.

Enrollment in Assisted Study is limited to five students during each period of the school day. Students are given access to material resources and computer technology that may not be available at home, and they are helped with keeping track of assignments, completing work descriptions given in class, assembling materials and moving in the right direction.

Placement decisions for Assisted Study are made by the student's guidance counselor based on an individual analysis of needs, but referrals may originate from a teacher, a request from a parent, or from students themselves. Those who are receiving Special Education services are not referred to Assisted Study, but are provided with similar support within the Special Education Department.
