(Click here for Athletics) The list below falls into two categories: groups that can be joined at almost any time, and those for which there are restrictions or applications required. Amnesty International is open to all students
at any time. If students want to come for just a meeting here and there, that
is fine. We are focused on furthering the mission of AI by taking direct action
on behalf of prisoners of conscience through letter writing campaigns, while spreading
awareness about larger issues as the group chooses.

This club gets together
to try out various art materials and art projects. We will mainly be sculpting
with clay and painting and drawing. The club welcomes all students at all
levels of art experience.

Coe-Brown Emergency Services Team- CBEST
CBEST
is a club designed for people who have an interest in careers in law enforcement,
emergency medical services, firefighting, or emergency management. Past students
have gone on to careers as paramedics, state communication coordinators, and police
officers and firefighters. We provide training in first aid, traffic management
and safety considerations for planning events. Members assist at regular school
events such as morning assemblies, track meets, and graduation.

The Coe-Brown Outing Club is open to all students at any time. The goal of the CBOC is to plan and conduct outdoor adventure activities after school and on weekends. Activities may range from a couple of hours after school to day hikes and overnights on the weekends. Students may take part in and help plan different activities as they are interested and able to. Activities may include hiking and backpacking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, bicycling/mountain biking, and other appropriate activities as the club chooses. Competes in academic
trivia contests on Saturdays throughout the school year. Every other year (at
most) CBNA competes on the NHPTV Granite State Challenge program.
All students
are welcome at practices, and all interested students can go to Saturday competitions.
GSC Teams are selected based on ability, participation, and grade level (since
juniors and seniors will only have one chance to compete
on Granite State Challenge, while freshmen and sophomores may have another opportunity).

Meets Wednesdays after school for 30-45 minutes,

All students are welcome to come to our wellness group. We will be participating
in various physical activities, preparing healthy recipes, inviting in guest speakers
on different health topics, and tracking progress of our own wellness goals
through "Fitness gram software program. We hope to do some "off
campus" wellness activities also. We will post a program so that students
can join our core group if the topic that week is of interest to them.
The International
Club members have a common denominator, a fascination for the world and an interest
in different cultures. The club’s goal is to promote awareness of the benefits
of diversity. As part of this year’s activities, a senior is working with the
club as part of his Senior Portfolio Project, facilitating contact with students
all over the world to exchange ideas and knowledge. The goal is to hold a video
conference as a result of this and make a documentary of it. Membership is open
to all students at Coe-Brown.

Operation Kindness
Operation Kindness
is a club which does random acts of kindness for students, staff, and community.
We celebrate World Kindness Day and National Kindness Week with an Ice Cream Social
and gifts. We also give baskets randomly throughout the year. If students
are interested we volunteer for community service in the school. Other acts of
kindness are determined by the interest of the club.

Paragon
The Paragon
Literary/Art magazine produces a yearly publication showcasing the best of student
art and literature submitted by Coe-Brown students. Staff members work to
promote the magazine, get a wide variety of high quality submissions, choose the
content, complete the lay-out, and distribute the magazine.
All students
are welcome to join the staff. Staff members must attend weekly meetings,
read and view the selections, commit to a Saturday meeting in February, and complete
at least one two page lay-out to be credited with membership in the publication
and for their transcript..

The Salsa Club is to provide the
Coe-Brown community with the opportunity to have the cultural experience of learning
Latin/ballroom dances, including salsa, merengue, cha-cha,
and bachata , as well as to provide students with a
fun and healthy means of exercise. The long term goal is to have students
compete in a fun dance competition with other Seacoast high schools (

Theatre / International Thespian
Society (ITS)
Produces extra curricular theatre productions (2 - 3 per year) as well as other activities related to theatre. Productions are open to all students. Casting productions is by audition. Students are encouraged to work in technical areas as well. Membership to the CBNA chapter of the International Thespian Society is selective , based on specific criteria, i.e. number of hours of participation in production work.

Meets: Production rehearsals are
varied according to rehearsal schedules for individual productions in the Gerrish
Gym / MPR/108. Auditions are announced in daily announcements.
ITS members meet once per month, usually on Wednesdays. ITS officers meet every Friday.
This group works on various aspects of yearbook production: photography, layout design, text editors (ID photographs and type in names, do brief write-ups). Anyone is welcome to join the staff.

Young Environmental Activists = YEA
We recycle
paper, plastic bottles, cell phones and inkjet cartridges.
We hike and do
trail clean-ups. We do an Adopt-A-Highway road cleanup each year. We run a student
coffeehouse and do a t-shirt sale to raise money for
paper recycling costs. We help local nonprofit
environmental organizations at their events and
earn community service hours. Two students who acquire
the most community service hours helping the environment, earn $50 awards
at the end of the year. All are welcome!

Family, Career and Community Leaders of
“This is a dynamic and effective national student
organization that helps young men and women become leaders
and address important personal, family , work and society
issues through Family and Consumer Studies Education," as stated by the National Organization in Reston,
Virginia.
Qualification to join: Students who have enrolled in any F&CS course may be members.

FBLA- Future Business
Leaders of
We are involved in 5 major types of activities each year. (1) Professional Development in Leadership and Business through competitions at the state and national level; (2) We participate in Civic duties that help businesses, community members, students, and non-profit organizations on a volunteer basis (some we help regularly are: Make-A-Wish Foundation, March of Dimes; David's House); (3) We provide Services for a small fee to gain work experience by putting our learned skills to work (i.e. making business cards, typing service, tax services, advertising, etc.); (4) We participate in Socials to network students locally, state-wide from other chapters, and nationally (we are also an international organization if we get a chance to pursue that far); and lastly (5) Financial activities to support going to leadership workshops, conferences, scholarships, and support the socials without it costing too much whereas the students can go because of the financial burden.
For membership there is an application process and a dues fee of $12 to pay for their state and national dues required. All students can be members since Computer Literacy is a Business course and they all have to take that; however, they must maintain a "C" average or better to stay in the organization. It is an intercurricular organization in that what I teach them prepares them for the competitions and if they don't take the business classes, it will limit their competitive event choices; but all can join. Their professional membership will also allow them discounts to Tire Warehouse, Alamo Car Rental, some hotels, and any other business that gives discounts for professional memberships. What is really nice is that PARENTS, local business owners, other faculty and staff, and any one can and is encouraged to join--especially if they own a business and want to share their knowledge or expertise and attend our meetings. We do have room for business to school partnerships in this organization! Membership opens in the fall, but must be closed by mid-September to plan for induction into the national organization.

Rehearsals
for Jazz Band begin after Pep Band ends in March.
Rehearsals are held 1-2 evenings per week from 6:30-8:30PM. Typically, there are rehearsals held during
the first three days of April break. The
Jazz Band instrumentation is based on standard Big Band set-up i.e.; trumpets
(5), trombones (4), saxes (5), and rhythm section consisting of piano, bass, guitar,
and drums. Preference will be given to
members of the CBNA Band program and auditions will be held as necessary.
The Jazz Band is an advanced level group.
Students are expected to be at all rehearsals and performances and to prepare
outside of rehearsals. The group performs at the Spring Concert and
for an all-school assembly the day after the concert. Repertoire will be chosen
from Swing, Ballads, Latin and Jazz-Rock selections.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is sponsored by the National Art Education Association (NAEA), the professional organization for art teachers, college and university art personnel, art supervisors, museum art educators, and others concerned with the quality of education in the visual arts.
Criteria for membership in the National Art Honor Society emphasize outstanding artistic scholarship and service to the school and community through the development of artistic endeavors together with a strong moral character. By exemplifying these standards, the individual student members of the society promote an awareness of art and become active participants in the education process at CBNA and the CBNA community. Students eligible for selection shall have maintained a minimum art scholarship of a “B” grade or higher. Students must also participate in a portfolio review that helps determine eligibility and then actively participate in the chapter’s activities, cultural events and community service projects.
Membership by invitation and application of those students who are in grade 10-12 and have successfully completed (B or better) in an art course. Application Deadline this past year was September 4, 2007, as announced in morning notices.

Farmers of
The FFA Mission: FFA makes a positive difference in the lives
of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth
and career success through agricultural education.
The Agricultural Education
Both intracurricular and extracurricular activities related to the wide variety of agricultural opportunities available to today’s youth are a very large part of this active “Much-To-Do” FFA Chapter. These events and activities are carried out by FFA and involve such activities as; community service project, Deerfield Fair, Children’s Mini Barnyard, Career Development Events in Forestry, Dairy, Tractor driving, Horticulture, Natural Resources, Landscaping,, Small Animal Science, Forages. Group events to include; The National FFA Convention, Granite State FFA Convention, Fall Leadership camp, winter camp, Eastern States Fair and Expo, Spring interscholastics, Fall interscholastics, Officer retreat, Camping,, fundraising, cordwood raffle, annual citrus sale and other planned activities.
Minimum Qualification: Members must have been or currently enrolled in an Agriculture class.

This year's French Honor Society induction will take place Wednesday, October 24th. Invitations to join will go out to those students who qualify at the beginning of October.
To qualify, a student needs to be currently taking French III, and have received a score of at least 93% final grade for both French I and French II. A student currently enrolled in French IV needs to have received a final grade of 91% for French I-III. Those of you just starting on your French journey, set your sights on excelling. We would love to welcome you to the ranks of the honored!

The
National Honor Society is a leader among organizations whose purpose is to recognize
students who show outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character,
leadership, and service. Coe-Brown students must have a 90 cumulative GPA to be
considered and this cannot be obtained by rounding up a lower GPA.
Members apply in August.
Their application is reviewed by a faculty committee. If accepted, students are
in the organization for their high school career. There are meetings biweekly.

Peer Helpers
A select
group of upper-classmen chosen to represent CBNA at various school wide events
Peer Helpers sponsors the 8th grade Lock-In, provides tutorials to the Strafford
and Northwood Elementary School students, and takes part in other CBNA and community-based
charitable activities. These students also serve as CBNA ambassadors to new and
transfer students, and mentor students who are struggling academically and/or
socially. Meetings are held weekly, and attendance is mandatory.
Membership:
Juniors and Seniors are chosen through an application and interview process. Qualifications
for membership include, good academic standing (passing at least 4 courses), positive
references, no discipline issues, no attendance issues, abstinence from drugs
and/or alcohol and an overall good character.

Project Search
Search is a seminar series for intellectually curious
high school students, run in collaboration with the

Meets: Wednesdays from 2:45-6:00
P.M. Schedule set each year in the spring. The group gathers in Gerrish Gym to depart
for UNH at 2:45. Meetings held in the MUB at UNH.
This elite group is chosen at the beginning of the school year through
an audition process. Membership in the CBNA Chorus is a prerequisite.
The number of people chosen will range from 12 to 20 depending on questions of
balance and the available talent. The Select Chorus rehearses weekly with
some evening rehearsals and attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory.
A wide range of musical styles is explored from the Renaissance to Contemporary.
Performances include the singing of the National Anthem at home basketball games
and singing in the major concerts as well as festivals and special events throughout
the year.
Broadway! Here we come! In this group we sing and dance to
show tunes and/or pop tunes. Membership is drawn from the CBNA Chorus, but
special consideration to others is possible after clearing this with the director.
The Choir rehearses once a week after school with a few evening rehearsals before
the performance in the Spring Concert.
