Computer Literacy - Syllabus

COURSE TITLE: Computer Literacy(182)
GRADE: 9-10
REQUIRED FOR ALL FRESHMEN ½ credit
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of computer terminology, applications, and actual use of microcomputers. The implications of computers in our society and their impact on business, government, and personal lives will be explored. The class will be held in the computer laboratory where each student will learn the proper care and operation of personal computers. Students will learn how to use a word processing program, a spreadsheet, presentation software and database programs. Students will also explore other software such as graphics design software, and web page design.

 
AutoCad I - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: CAD I-CP (298)
GRADE: 10-11
PREREQUISITE: None Group IV Elective
COURSE REQUIREMENT: Membership in the FFA Organization ½ credit
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Semester I
This class will introduce students to the field of Drafting with computers. Traditional drafting techniques will be compared to using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). The evolution of CAD and its application in today’s industries will be studied. Using AutoCAD (an industry standard drafting software program) students will learn the basics of CAD. Using skills developed in class students will complete several basic drawings.
 
AutoCad II - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: CAD II-CP (295) GRADE: 10-12
PREREQUISITE: CAD I or Permission of the Instructor ½ credit
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Group IV Elective
This course is intended for students with prior knowledge of AutoCAD. Emphasis will be placed on productivity and efficiency. Students will be introduced to many of AutoCAD’s advanced features including: Paper Space/Model Space, Viewpoints, Attribute extracting, entity grips, file management procedures, and an introduction to 3-D drafting concepts and techniques.
 
Computer Graphics and Animation - Syllabus

COURSE TITLE: COMPUTER GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION GRADE: 10-12
PREREQUISITE: INTRO WEB PAGE DESIGN I or Permission of the Instructor ½ credit
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Group IV Elective
This class covers an introduction to computer graphics and the basics of 2D computer animation. Students will use PaintShop Pro to learn to edit and create computer graphics. Both raster and vector graphics will be explored. The use of layers and masks will also be explored. Students will then use Macromedia’s Flash MX software, the leading authoring software for creating interactive animation for the web. Students will be introduced to graphics creation and editing with vector bitmap images. Students will then learn the basics of the FLASH editor including using; drawing tools, the timeline, frame by frame animation, working with layers, and motion and shape tweening. The course will be project based and students will develop several working animations.

 
Algebra I
COURSE TITLE: Algebra I (CP) (133)
GRADE: 9-12
PREREQUISITE: None One Math Requirement
COURSE DESCRIPTION: 1 credit
Algebra I is a foundation course for college preparatory math. It is designed for those highly motivated students who desire to continue their education beyond secondary school. The student will learn to use the real number system in equations and other relationships. The student will learn to solve a wide variety of linear and quadratic equations. Considerable emphasis is placed on logical problem solving and analysis.
Students who select this course should be prepared to spend 30-40 minutes each day completing assignments and preparing for class. This course is a prerequisite for Geometry and all subsequent college preparatory math courses. It is also a prerequisite for Chemistry, Physics and Computer Programming.
