COURSE DESCRIPTION: ½ credit
This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of computer terminology, applications, and actual use of microcomputers. The implications of computers in our society and their impact on business, government, and personal lives will be explored. The class will be held in the computer laboratory where each student will learn the proper care and operation of personal computers. Students will learn how to use a word processing program, a spreadsheet, presentation software and database programs. Students will also explore other software such as graphics design software, and web page design.

 
AutoCad I - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: CAD I-CP (298)
GRADE: 10-11
PREREQUISITE: None Group IV Elective
COURSE REQUIREMENT: NONE
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Group IV Elective ½ credit
This class will introduce students to the field of Drafting with computers. Traditional drafting techniques will be compared to using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). The evolution of CAD and its application in today’s industries will be studied. Using AutoCAD (an industry standard drafting software program) students will learn the basics of CAD. Using skills developed in class students will complete several basic drawings.
 
AutoCad II - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: CAD II-CP (295)

PREREQUISITE: CAD I or Permission of the Instructor
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Group IV Elective½ credit
This course is intended for students with prior knowledge of AutoCAD. Emphasis will be placed on productivity and efficiency. Students will be introduced to many of AutoCAD’s advanced features including: Paper Space/Model Space, Viewpoints, Attribute extracting, entity grips, file management procedures, and an introduction to 3-D drafting concepts and techniques.
 
Intro to Graphic Design - Syllabus

COURSE TITLE: INTRO TO GRAPHIC DESIGN
GRADES 10-12
PREQUISITE: Computer Literacy
COURSE DESCRIPTION Group IV Elective ½ credit
This course will introduce students to graphic design and layout considerations for various production media. Students will study design principles including color theory, line, texture, pattern, balance, and space. Students will be introduced to computer graphics creation using Adobe PhotoShop, the industry standard graphics software. Digital cameras and scanners will be discussed and may also be used as resources. This is a project based course with students developing new skills with a portfolio of tutorial based drawings. They will then apply these new skills and their own creativity to produce original creations.

 
Web Page Design - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: Web Design (CP)
GRADE: 10-12
PREREQUISITE: Computer Literacy
COURSE DESCRIPTION: ½ credit
This course is an introduction to web page design. In the first part of the course you will learn the structure and syntax of HTML and the basic tags required to create an HTML document. The course also covers formatting text, incorporating graphics, adding interactive forms, creating tables, advanced Web page structuring. In the second part of the course you will use the leading WYSIWYG web page editor, Dreamweaver MX to quickly create state of the art web pages. You will then learn to create and manage multiple page web sites. Students will develop a small portfolio of textbook generated web sites. Familiarity and experience with the World Wide Web is assumed.
 
Intro to Animation with Macromedia Flash - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: Intro to Animation with Macromedia Flash
GRADE: 10-12
PREREQUISITE: Computer Literacy
COURSE DESCRIPTION: ½ credit
This class covers an introduction to 2D computer animation and interactive web page design. Students will use Macromedia’s Flash MX software, the leading authoring software for creating interactive animation for the web. Students will learn the basics of the FLASH editor including using drawing tools, the timeline, frame by frame animation, working with layers, and motion and shape tweening. The course will be project based and students will develop working animations and participate in major projects demonstrating interactive web sites.
 
Introduction to Computer Programming - Syllabus
COURSE TITLE: Introduction to Computer Programming(CP)
GRADE: 10-12
PREREQUISITE: Computer Literacy or Permission of Instructor
COURSE DESCRIPTION: ½ credit
This course is designed to provide each student with an introduction to computer programming. Students will explore the history of computer programming and gain an understanding of hardware and software related to computer programming. The course will emphasis problem solving, design and programming as the core skills. The programming language Python will be used to allow students to focus on program design and not “language” details. Students will learn multiple design techniques, including top down, spiral decomposition and object-oriented methods.
