Gold Circle Award Overview
Gold Circle Awards are offered to recognize superior work by student journalists usually as individuals but sometimes as an entire staff working with either print or online media.Judges are experienced journalists and educators familiar with the context surrounding student journalism.In recent years, more than 13,000 entries have been submitted for this annual competition and about 1,000 awards were given in the various categories.

NCTE’s Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines
Recognizes students, teachers, and schools for producing excellent literary magazines.Judges evaluate and rank school literary magazines. In 2008, 489 schools submitted entries; of those, 59 were selected to receive highest award, 67 Superior, 239 Excellent, and 77 Above Average. Magazines scoring 70 or fewer points are not included.
