As part of the senior portfolio experience, each senior presents what is know as the “Senior Project”. The project is part of the Senior Portfolio Exit Interview process.

Every senior develops and gives a twenty minute presentation on some facet of his/her educational experience that best represents him/her. The subject matter is chosen by the student, and may be directly related to his/her experience at Coe-Brown or from the student’s activities in the community. Many students will choose to design and construct a special project, while others may take the experiences they already have to prepare their presentation. The key element in the selection of a project should be the student’s personal interest in the subject matter. It may be representative of something they enjoy doing, what to learn more about, or something they are considering following as a possible career. It may also be of a service to the school or the community.

When selecting a project some thought should be given as to how it might best be presented. Keeping logs, taking photos or video taping in progress is highly encouraged and may be very helpful in making the presentation. Every year students come up with an impressive list of presentation subjects. Food, art, horses, music, writing, sports, career exploration, woodworking, flying, mechanics, medical related, teaching, construction, karate, drama and computers are just a few subjects seen in past portfolios, Horse and carriage rides, preparing full course dinners, barbershop quartet performances, recitals of all types, movies, displays and computer program tests have all been part of recent interviews. The subject is really only limited by the student’s interest and ambition.

Seniors should discuss potential projects with their advisors beginning in theie very first meeting.

A project proposal and a preliminary plan must be submitted, in writing to the advisor for approval by October 3, 2006.
