CBNA STUDENTS
SELECTED TO ART ALLSTATE FESTIVAL
NORTHWOOD-The Coe-Brown Academy
Art Department is please to announce that Lucy Sutton and Ivy Gooch, both members
of the junior class, have been selected to participate in the 2008 NH Art Allstate
Festival at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester. Nominated by CBNA art instructor
Scott Chatfield, both students completed an application packet that included an
essay, examples of artwork, recommendations and an interview. Students were instructed
to develop a piece of artwork that reflects John James Audubon's (1785-1851) quote,
"A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his
fathers, but borrowed from his children."
The New Hampshire
Art Allstate Festival, now in its 10th year, will be held at the newly renovated
Currier Museum of Art in Manchester on Friday May 2nd and Saturday 3rd. Art educators
from around the state nominated students to participate, and only 60 were selected.
The festival provides an opportunity for students to expand their creativity and
critical thinking by working with professional artists and peers in a collaborative
studio setting. College representatives will also be on hand to discuss future learning
opportunities on their campuses. Family and friends are invited to a special program,
reception and exhibition of work created during the weekend on the afternoon of
Saturday, May 3rd.
