TOP TEN GRADUATES

Northwood Academy is proud to announce the top ten graduates for the Class of
2008
The valedictorian for the class
of 2008 is Rebecca L. Rubinstein of Barrington. During her four years at CBNA
she was a member of the Math Team, and the spring track and field and winter track
teams. Next year, Rebecca will attend Widener University, majoring in chemical
engineering. She also is the recipient of a Widener Scholarship.
The 2008 salutatorian is Tyler S. Goodell of Strafford. Tyler
has been an active member of CBNAs concert band and chorus, select chorus,
boys a capella group, pep band, jazz band, and drama productions. A member
of the Math Team, Tyler also played for the varsity soccer and track and field
teams. He has served as president of the National Honor Society, and was a member
of the National Latin Honor Society and International Thespian Society. Tyler
will be attending Johns Hopkins University in the fall, majoring in engineering.
He is the recipient of a JHU grant.
The
remaining top ten graduates are listed in alphabetical order:
Matthew S. Blake of Northwood has been a member of CBNAs
concert band and chorus, boys a capella group, pep band, jazz band, and
drama productions. Vice-president of the National Honor Society, Matt also played
for the varsity soccer and indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Matt will
be attending Johns Hopkins University in the fall, majoring in engineering. He
is the recipient of a JHU grant and an Elks Club scholarship.
Amelia A. Foster of Northwood has participated in pep band, jazz band, concert
band and chorus. As part of CBNAs drama productions, she has played
in
the pit orchestra. A member of the Math Team, Bible Club, Friends of Rachel, National
Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society, Amelia has also played for the junior
varsity soccer team and been a member of the varsity cross-country and track and
field teams. Amelia will be attending the University of New England in the fall,
majoring in applied exercise science. She is the recipient of an honors program
scholarship.
Danielle M. Gerber of Strafford has been
a member of Peer Helpers, Project SEARCH, National Honor Society, National Spanish
Honor Society, and the Alpine and Salsa Clubs. In addition to serving as class
treasurer, Danielle was a member of the volleyball team. Danielle will be attending
the Maine College of Art on a merit scholarship in the fall to study graphic design.
Erika C. Johnson
of Deerfield has been a member of CBNAs tennis and soccer teams, as well
as a manager of the boys basketball teams. She has been active with the
Peer Helpers, National Honor Society, and Latin Honor Society. Erika will be attending
the University of Maine at Orono in the fall to study food science and nutrition.
Erika has received a deans scholarship and the Edward and Grace Cutting
Scholarship for the College of Natural Science.
Jenna
A. Makarewicz of Northwood has been a member of CBNAs track and field and
cross-country teams. Her leadership roles include vice-president of the National
Art Honor Society and secretary of the SADD chapter. She is also a member of the
Spanish Honor Society, Friends of Rachel, Project SEARCH, and the National Honor
Society. Jenna will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall, majoring
in animal science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. She has received
a presidential scholarship and UVM scholarship.
Megan
K. Norton of Barrington has played for the girls basketball and varsity
softball teams during her four years at CBNA. She is also a member of the National
Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. Megan will be attending the University
of New England in the fall to study medical biology. She is the recipient of an
UNE merit scholarship.
Meredith C. Overmyer
of Northwood is this years senior class president. She is also a member
of Project SEARCH, Bible Club, Peer Helpers, National Honor Society, and performs
in CBNAs concert band and chorus and select chorus. She had a role in the
spring drama production, and also was a member of the junior varsity volleyball
and track and field teams. Meredith next fall will attend the University of the
Nations in association with the Youth With a Mission group, and will
then attend Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia, majoring
in international studies under a presidential scholarship award.
Tyler E. Patrick of Strafford was a member of the varsity
golf team, and also served in student government for all four years at CBNA, as
class president and a student council representative. He is also a member of the
National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Project SEARCH, and was the captain
of the Granite State Challenge team that competed on the television quiz show.
The recipient of a Strafford Garden Club scholarship, NROTC scholarship, and nominated
for the National Principals Leadership Scholarship, Tyler will be attending
the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in the fall to major
in nuclear engineering and Naval architecture.
