CBNA concert to raise money for new piano
(Northwood, N.H.) Supporters of the Performing
Arts (SOPA) and performing arts students at Coe-Brown Northwood
Academy (CBNA) will host an evening of musical entertainment
featuring University of New Hampshire (UNH) Music Department
faculty members, CBNA alumni and current CBNA students.
The concert will be held Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m.
in CBNAs Gerrish Gym. Donations will be gratefully
accepted at the door and refreshments will be available.
All proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase
of a new piano for the CBNA Music Department. Donations
can also be made on line at www.coebrownacademy.com.
The featured performers include UNH professors
Arlene Kies and Christopher Kies on piano and Professor
William Kempster, who will conduct the UNH orchestra. One
of the highlights of the evening will be Mr. and Mrs. Kies
playing, four hands on one piano, Gershwins Rhapsody
in Blue. CBNA alumni Kimberly Felber 07, Andrew Plummer
05 and Adrienne Rule 97 will also perform, as
will CBNA students Kelly Brown 10, Druinn Johnston
08 and Philip Shiere 09. Rounding out the performance
will be the CBNA Select Chorus led by David Deardorff.
SOPA is a membership organization made up
of parents of students (past and present) involved in CBNAs
performing arts programs and two elected student representatives.
They hold several fundraisers throughout the year designed
to support the performing arts at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy.
Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, founded in 1867,
is a small co-educational public-private secondary school
accepting students in grades 9-12 and offering the highest
quality curriculum of studies. The academy campus is located
on the shores of Harvey Lake in Northwood, New Hampshire.
