CBNA concert to raise money for new piano

(Northwood, N.H.) Supporters of the Performing Arts (SOPA) and performing arts students at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy (CBNA) will host an evening of musical entertainment featuring University of New Hampshire (UNH) Music Department faculty members, CBNA alumni and current CBNA students. The concert will be held Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. in CBNA’s Gerrish Gym. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door and refreshments will be available. All proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of a new piano for the CBNA Music Department. Donations can also be made on line at www.coebrownacademy.com.

The featured performers include UNH professors Arlene Kies and Christopher Kies on piano and Professor William Kempster, who will conduct the UNH orchestra. One of the highlights of the evening will be Mr. and Mrs. Kies playing, four hands on one piano, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. CBNA alumni Kimberly Felber ’07, Andrew Plummer ’05 and Adrienne Rule ’97 will also perform, as will CBNA students Kelly Brown ’10, Druinn Johnston ’08 and Philip Shiere ’09. Rounding out the performance will be the CBNA Select Chorus led by David Deardorff.

SOPA is a membership organization made up of parents of students (past and present) involved in CBNA’s performing arts programs and two elected student representatives. They hold several fundraisers throughout the year designed to support the performing arts at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy.

Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, founded in 1867, is a small co-educational public-private secondary school accepting students in grades 9-12 and offering the highest quality curriculum of studies. The academy campus is located on the shores of Harvey Lake in Northwood, New Hampshire. For more information visit www.coebrownacademy.com.
