The following Coe Brown Northwood Academy students are participating in the 30th annual Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery sponsored by Frank Guinta’s First Congressional District: Kayla Roberts, Taylor Trainor, Kelsey Follansbee, Leanne Baratier and Jordan McAllister. The exhibition, reception, and awards ceremony will take place on Monday, May 16 from 5:30- 6:30 at the Manchester Public Library (Winchell Room - Ground level) – 404 Pine Street in Manchester.
Kelsey’s Follansbee’s Self-Portrait Molded by the War took top honors and she will have her work exhibited for a year in the tunnel at the US Capital in Washington, DC. The portrait is created with correspondence letters and postcards Kelsey had with her dad while he was deployed in Iraq. Attached is a reflective statement that helps to explain this significant and timely piece of artwork. Kelsey will be flown to DC to attend a special reception later this summer. This is the 5th Best of show awarded to a CBNA student over the past 7 years. Other Coe-Brown students selected in the past include Heather Baker (2005), Kaitlin Cecchetti (2007), Alyssa Pittera (2009), and Erika Magner (2010). In addition, current freshman Leanne Baratier received 5th place honors in the District for her self-portrait. Congratulations!
