LADY BEARS TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL PINK OUT

The Coe-Brown Lady Bears are hosting the third annual PINK OUT on October 15, 2010.  The girls’ soccer and volleyball teams will host Windham and Oyster River, respectively in a lighter shade of red to show their support of Breast Cancer Awareness.  The reserve girls’ volleyball team will host Pinkerton Academy.  While the campaign to find a cure for cancer has spread to major teams and corporations nationwide, Coe-Brown athletes remain involved in their own community.  Many students have personal stories about how this cancer has affected their lives.  Others want to ensure they are doing all they can to prevent cancer from spreading.  Whatever the case may be, the girls want to do their part to support each other and those less fortunate.  The girls have high expectations of themselves.  The teams have come together for three years now to unite the school community in Pink.  The Cross Country team will travel to Plymouth on Friday, but there will be no shortage of Pink there either.  More and more schools are taking the initiative to be a part of this cause, raising not only funding, but awareness of the seriousness of Breast Cancer.  Approximately one hundred female athletes from Coe-Brown will take part in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk on Sunday, October 17th in Concord.  The girls have been part of this walk for several years. Two years ago the girls earned the honor of Hometown Heroes for their efforts, raising a collective $16,000.  While the economy was down last year, the team still earned $13,000 for the American Cancer Society.  This year the team aims to match last year’s total, but will be even happier if the gymnasium is packed with Pink dressed classmates.  Come out and join the Lady Bears on Friday night at the soccer field or in the gymnasium as we celebrate the strength of the Coe-Brown community, all in PINK of course.  If you cannot attend and wish to donate to the team, please visit our webpage on the Making Strides website (The Coe-Brown Lady Bears) or send a donation to Making Strides Fundraising, attention to Kristen Miller, at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, 907 First NH Turnpike, Northwood, NH 03261.
