COE-BROWN STUDENTS ATTEND PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
NORTHWOOD On September 5th, six CBNA
students and several faculty members took part in the political
event of the year on the UNH campus, attending the nationally-televised
First in the Fall presidential candidates
debate at the Whittemore Center.
The attendees were seniors Laurinda Adams,
Gabe Carling, Sam Darling, Zack Lacroix, Kyle Starkweather
and Jade Wilcoxsome of who will be eligible to vote
for the first time in New Hampshires 2008 primary
election. They received the educational experience of a
lifetime by witnessing the passion of the candidates
supporters, as well as the national media onslaught which
accompanies a political event of this magnitude.
For this debate to be held so close to the
students hometown provided a unique opportunity to
witness a moment in American political history. Each attendee
expressed interest in the candidates responses about
issues that will directly affect them as young voters, such
as the war in Iraq, taxes, and immigration. Many have said
that the debate has inspired them to become more politically
active in the future.
